1st. Pop Music Festival To Start on February 7

TEHRAN For the First time in the Islamic Republic of Iran a Pop Music Festival will be held here on Sunday February 7 at Farhang Hall to mark the 20th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution. Several Iranian pop musicians and singers will perform programs in this festival. Some 15 pop music groups will participate in the 10-day festival, which aims to prepare the ground for the presence of pop music in the country in such a way that it is kept away from any prosiness, and will end on February 18.

According to Head of the festival's Public Relations Department, the festival will try to present Iranian pop music while employing its social and human dimensions. He added that the songs have been selected in line with the criteria and values of the Islamic Revolution. He noted that the festival will provide music instructors and experts of religious poems with the opportunity to experience the capabilities of pop music.

As for the participants in the festival, he said that so far Mahdi Sepehr, Mohammad Esfahani, Mohammad Eivazi, Changiz Habibian, Khashayar E'temadi, Alireza Asar, Khajeh Nouri brothers, Qasem Afshar, Shadmehr Aqili, Mani Rahnama, Dr. Iraj Kanani, Dr. Shahkar Bineshpajouh, Babak Amini and several other musicians and singers have been invited to perform pop music in this festival.
