Iranian Accredited Ambassador Holds Talks With Slovenian Officials

VIENNA Iranian Ambassador to Austria and accredited ambassador to Slovenia, Ibrahim Rahimpour, and the Deputy Slovenian Foreign Minister, Franco Juri, in a meeting in Ljubljana Thursday reviewed Tehran-Ljubljana bilateral relations and ways to boost ties. In the meeting, the Slovenian foreign ministry official attaching great significance to Iran's part in the regional stability, said that his country is ready to expand cooperation with the Islamic republic of Iran. He added that exchange of views between the officials of two countries, specifically during the upcoming visit to Ljubljana of the Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Morteza Sarmadi will be effective in upgrading bilateral cooperation.
The Iranian accredited ambassador on his part referring to the two countries' cooperation and trade exchange, underlined the need for exchanging views between the Irano-Slovenian high ranking delegations on bilateral issues at the regional and international levels. Among the regional issues, Rahimpour and Juri exchanged views on Iraqi crisis, recent U.S. military strikes against Iraq and the ongoing crisis in the former Yugoslavian province of Kosovo. Meanwhile, the Iranian ambassador met separately with the first deputy Slovenian Minister of Economic Relations and Development, Vojaka Ravbar, and discussed the Irano-Slovenian economic cooperation and ways to futher expand such bilateral cooperation.
In the meeting, Rahimpour underlined the need to set up the two countries' joint economic commission through which Tehran and Ljubljana would be able to further promote their economic cooperation besides paving the way for implementation of their common projects in other countries. Ravbar on her part welcomed the formation of the Irano-Slovenian joint economic commission and added that Tehran and Ljubljana by inking two separate accords on economic cooperation and for supporting investments in either countries can prepare the grounds for further expansion of bilateral cooperation.
She said that her country is making endeavors to take an active part at the upcoming tehran international trade fair. The Iranian ambassador finally emphasized on settling the debts of some the slovenian companies to their Iranian partners. Meanwhile, Latvian Prime Minister Vilis Kristopans in Stockholm, Sweden, called for expansion of bilateral cooperation between his country and Iran. Kristopans made the call in a meeting with Iran's Ambassador to Sweden and accredited ambassador to Latvia Abdullah Norouzi on the sideline of his visit to Stockholm. He welcomed the scheduled visit of a delegation from Iranian chamber of commerce to Latvia, and evaluated exchange of economic delegations as effective in expansion of Tehran-Riga relations.
