President Receives Congratulatory Messages on Eid-ul-Fitr

TEHRAN President Mohammad Khatami received messages of congratulations from his counterparts on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr which marks the end of the fasting month of Ramazan. President of Cyprus Glafcos Clerides sent a congratulatory message yesterday on the occasion. He said that God's love and blessings are beyond every form of color, race, religion and ideology. Clerides wished a very happy eid for the Muslim nation of Iran and all the world Muslims. Meanwhile, Muslims residing in Athens celebrated Eid-ul-Fitr yesterday by holding prayers in several mosques in the capital.

According to IRNA, the Azeri President Gaidar Aliyev also cabled a congratulatory message on Sunday to his Iranian counterpart Khatami felicitating him on the eve of auspicious Muslim feast. In another separate message the Azeri president also congratulated the Iranian Majlis Speaker Ali Akbar Nateq Nouri on the same occasion. Majlis speaker of Azerbaijan Murtuz Aleskerov in his message of congratulation to his Iranian counterpart Sunday offered his felicitations.

Aliyev also felicitated the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei on the eve of auspicious Muslim feast through a message Sunday. Azerbaijan's president in his message of congratulation also wished safety and health for the Leader and success and prosperity for the brotherly nation of Iran. Also, the Tajik President Imomali Rakhmanov in a separate message cabled on Sunday congratulated President Khatami on the same occasion.

Rakhmanov in his message wished prosperity and success for President Khatami and well-being for the Iranian people. He maintained that recent agreements reached between him and President Khatami in Tehran would benefit both nations and serve to further promote bilateral relations. Meanwhile, Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) Ezzedin Laraki sent separate eid greetings to President Khatami and Foreign Minister Kamal Kharrazi. In his message to President Khatami, Laraki wished honor and dignity for the Islamic ummah and hoped that by the grace of Almighty Allah all problems facing the Muslims worldwide will be solved and their solidarity be further consolidated, said a press release by Iran's permanent representative at the OIC Mohammad Shariati on Sunday. In another message to Foreign Minister Kamal Kharrazi, the OIC secretary general hoped that the Almighty will assist the officials in their common efforts for a just settlement of issues facing the Muslims and realize the goals of the OIC.
