Iran's Longest Ski Run to Be Built on Sahand Mountains

TEHRAN A project for building the country's largest ski run will be launched in the skirts of Sahand Mountains, 40 kilometers south of Tabriz, in the northwestern Province of East Azarbaijan, next year. The Head of Physical Education Department of East Azarbaijan Province said that in the first stage of the project, the construction of administrative buildings as well as the installations of telecabins will be completed.
Jamshid Taqizadeh said that the project includes establishment of a center for winter sports and recreation. Some Rls.700 million have been allocated to the implementation of the first stage of the project. If completed, the 16-kilometer-long Sahand Ski run, will be the longest skiing track in Iran. At present, the longest track in the country with six kilometers length is located in Dizin, near Tehran.
