TEHRAN – The UN Security Council committee for sanctions on Iran has been dissolved, the Iranian deputy ambassador to the UN has said.

“No new mechanism against Iran has been established in the United Nations Security Council,” Gholamhossein Dehghani said, ILNA reported on Saturday.

He said all the seven UN resolutions against Iran have been annulled and therefore the sanctions committee has been dissolved.

Dehghani further said that based on Resolution 2231, there are limitations on certain Iranian military equipment and purchase of dual purpose items for a limited period of time.

Transfer of the goods needs to be announced to the Security Council in line with monitoring the implementation of the nuclear deal, he said.

The items were banned to be sent to Iran before lifting the sanctions, but their transfer needs to be announced to the council after the removal of sanctions and the passage of Resolution 2231, he explained.
