The Iranian side has set up information booths to answer any questions both from professionals and the general public, with a workshop on Iranian traditional crafts such as carpet making and a place offering local delicacies such as saffron juice.

With the end to economic sanctions against Iran after the agreement on its nuclear program, the country is opening in many areas, particularly in the area of tourism, so far virtually non-existent.

Nearly 125,000 companies from around the world are participating in FITUR 2016.

Iranian authorities have set impressive goals for the industry to increase the number of tourists from five million in 2014 to 20 million in 2025. The country plans to generate up to $30 billion in revenues per annum from tourism by 2025.
