TEHRAN – President Hassan Rouhani has said that Iran and Venezuela should expand ties given the situation created with the implementation of the nuclear deal with great powers.

In a phone conversation with Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro on Tuesday, Rouhani called implementation of the deal, officially known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, a victory for all the freedom-seeking governments and people in the world.

He said that the two countries should enjoy the post-JCPOA situation and expand relations.

For his part, Maduro said that implementation of the nuclear deal will raise new prospects for relations between the two countries.

The world has welcomed the implementation of the deal.

Rouhani in a telephone conversation on Wednesday with his Iraqi counterpart Fuad Masum also said that the Iranian nation’s success in defending its indisputable rights and eventual implementation of the JCPOA revealed that developing countries can defend their rights against big powers through talks.

Appreciating Masoum’s congratulation on official implementation of JCPOA, Rouhani noted that settlement of nuclear issue helped deescalate tensions which could adversely affect the region.

“With the implementation of the JCPOA and removal of sanctions, we can now promote economic and commercial cooperation with neighboring and friendly states, especially Iraq,” he said.

Rouhani felicitated victory of the Iraqi army and public forces over the terrorist group of Daesh in Al-Ramadi and Al-Anbar, hoping that the Iraqi nation and government would be able to drive the terrorists out of their country.

Also in a telephone conversation with Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev on Wednesday, Rouhani said that implementation of the JCPOA has prepared ground for expansion of cooperation between Iran and European Union.

Referring to his Bulgarian counterpart's statement concerning presence of a great number of Muslims in Bulgaria and existence of more than 1,000v mosques, President Rouhani said that when people with different religions live together in peace and brotherhood, it would be a matter of honor for that nation.
