TEHRAN - President Hassan Rouhani has predicted that Iran will witness a “political epic” in the February parliamentary elections.
Speaking in Shahr-e Rey, city to the south of Tehran, Rouhani pointed out that Iranians have a history for holding elections in the harshest of circumstances, even under bombardment during the Iran-Iraq war.He underlined that the Islamic Republic has never abandoned elections.
“After the revolution, we got to the point where healthy polls, competition, and the majestic participation of people became a source of pride,” he stressed.
In the upcoming elections, people once more will render a mighty deed, he assured.
Rouhani further underlined that people’s votes are their personal rights and should not be violated.
He also spoke about the nuclear deal and said that in one month, all of the 18 anti-Iranian sanctions will be removed.
The Iranian nation will take the JCPOA to its final point, much to the chagrin of U.S. extremists, the Zionist regime, and some reactionary states in the region which tried to hamper the deal, the president noted.
