100-strong Azerbaijani economic delegation to visit Iran

TEHRAN - A 100-strong Azerbaijani economic delegation will arrive in Tehran today amid a positive outlook towards the future of bilateral economic ties between Iran and Azerbaijan, according to the IRNA news agency.

The two countries, so has been revealed, are projected to convene the joint economic commission on December 22 and 23 in the Iranian capital city of Tehran and northwestern city of Tabriz.

The joint economic commission is co-presided over by Iranian Communications and Information Technology Minister Mahmoud Vaezi and Azerbaijani Minister of Economy and Industry Shahin Mustafayev.

Also, on the initiative of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and agriculture (ICCIMA), there will be sessions between Iranian and Azerbaijani officials and businessmen in Tehran and Tabriz.

Although the two countries can expand their bilateral collaborations theoretically to almost every possible domains due to strong cultural affinities, key common grounds for cooperation are energy, trade, and transportation.

Azerbaijan was the 12th leading importer of Iranian non-oil goods in the previous Iranian calendar year, which ended on March 20, 2015, according to the Iran Customs Administration.     
 
Iran exported $435.34 million of non-oil goods to Azerbaijan and imported $22.22 million of non-oil goods from the country.
