TEHRAN – Iranian Kamancheh virtuoso Hessam Inanlu and renowned Dutch jazz bassist and composer Tony Overwater are working on a joint fusion album, which will be released in early 2016.

“My acquaintance with Overwater dates from October 2012 when I met him during the WOMEX World Music Expo, which was held in Thessaloniki, Greece” Inanlu told the Persian service of ILNA on Sunday.

In 2002, Overwater received the VPRO/Boy Edgar Award that is an annual award given to a Dutch jazz musician, composer, or bandleader.

Joint concerts and albums between Iranian traditional musicians and their foreign counterparts are becoming more common recently.

Acclaimed Iranian kamancheh virtuoso Keyhan Kalhor and Dutch jazz-pianist Rembrandt Frerichs made a joint album in Osnabrug, the Netherlands earlier in November and they are slated to give a fusion concert in the city.
