Jerry Bengtson dedicates his goal to murdered Honduras captain Peralta

TEHRAN – Persepolis striker Jerry Bengtson dedicated his goal to Honduras captain Arnold Peralta, who was shot and killed in a drive-by shooting in La Ceiba on Thursday.
Persepolis edged past Gostaresh Foolad in the Iranian Professional League (IPL) on Monday in Tehran’s Azadi Stadium.Bengtson found the back of the net with a header in the 34th minute.
The Reds moved up to sixth with 22 points, seven points adrift of IPL leader Esteghlal Khuzestan.
“It was our toughest match in the current league. It was so important for us to win three points. We knew the game was going to be difficult,” Persepolis coach Branko Ivankovic said in the post-match new conference.
Elsewhere, Esteghlal Khuzestan defeated Padideh 3-0 thanks to a brace from IPL top goalscorer Hassan Beit Saeed and a goal from Mehdi Zobeydi.
Esteghlal Khuzestan moved two points clear of Esteghlal at the top of the IPL.
Zob Ahan beat Siah Jamegan 1-0 in Mashhad and is title contender at the moment.
Masoud Hassanzadeh scored the only goal of the match in the 45th minute.
