TEHRAN - Iran’s Judiciary Chief Sadeq Amoli Larijani blasted Washington’s double-standard approach on human rights situation in different countries, and described the U.S. officials’ human rights allegations against Tehran as “ridiculous”.

“The human rights allegations (against Iran) by a country like the U.S. are ridiculous,” Amoli Larijani said, addressing the high-ranking judiciary officials in a weekly meeting in Tehran on Monday.

He lashed out at the U.S. for closing their eyes on the violation of human rights by certain countries, including Saudi Arabia, and said, “Saudi Arabia is a country which has committed war crimes against its neighbor, Yemen.”

Amoli Larijani also pointed to blatant racism and disrespect for the rights of the minorities, blacks and Muslims in the U.S., and said, “What is described by the U.S. as human rights is savagery and barbarism which has been disguised as human rights.”

In relevant remarks yesterday, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Brigadier General Massoud Jazzayeri blasted U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry for raising human rights allegations against Iran, and said Washington is not a justified party to comment on the human rights situation in Iran.

“The U.S. administration which is known as ‘the Great Satan’ and its military forces and other affiliated elements are shedding blood, destroying infrastructures and plundering the nations in different parts of the world, is not qualified to comment on human rights and it should rather stand trial as a war criminal,” Jazzayeri said on Sunday.

He lashed out at Kerry’s remarks against the human rights situation in Iran, and said the U.S. officials are not entitled to opine on the human rights situation in other countries when its own citizens stage rallies every week to shout protest at the violence exercised by their ruling system.

Jazzayeri said that the U.S. and certain European countries use human rights as an instrument to put pressure on other governments and nations to materialize their illegitimate goals.
