TEHRAN - Iran’s Permanent Representative at the United Nations Gholamali Khoshroo has said the goal of the recent letter of the Supreme Leader to the youth in the West is to present the original vision from the heart of Islamic world to the young recipients on fighting terrorism.

Addressing a meeting on international peace in the UN General Assembly, Khoshroo said, “The culture of peace may be revived by combating poverty, discrimination, injustice, and occupation.

“Peace also depends on forgiveness, justice, mutual respect, constructive treatment, and holding dialogues between cultures and civilizations.”

Separately, Khosroo pointed to President Hassan Rouhani’s initiative for confronting violence and extremism (WAVE) which was ratified by the UN General Assembly two years ago, adding that “the course of developments over the past two years is evidence to the rationality of the Rouhani initiative.”
