Wholesale Price Index Up by 21.8%

TEHRAN The wholesale price index of goods increased by 21.8 percent in the Iranian month of Aban (October 23-November 21) compared to the same month in the year before. A report released by the Central Bank of Iran (CBI) Statistics Department said that the wholesale price index of goods stood at 648.6 units in Aban, 2.1 percent higher than in the previous month.
Furthermore, the average price index in the first eight months of the year (since March 21), was 19.3 percent higher than that in the same period last year, the report said. The price index for the year ending in Aban was 18.8 percent higher than that of the same period the previous year (1376). The report also said that the price indices for foodstuffs, beverages and tobacco and garments in Aban were 29.6 and 6.4 percent higher than those in the same month last year.
The price index for housing, fuel and lighting showed a 19 percent increase in Aban compared to the figure for Aban of last year. The index for furniture and home appliances also demonstrated a 6.5 percent rise in Aban compared to last Aban's figure. The price index for transportation and communications rose by 22.1 percent, medicare by 25.7 percent, recreation, education and studying by 9.1 percent and the miscellaneous goods and services by 22.5 percent in Aban compared to the figure of the same month last year.
