Iran set to decide on committee makeup to monitor JCPOA

TEHRAN - The Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) will hold a session on Wednesday night to select members of a committee to monitor the implementation of the nuclear deal finalized by Tehran and world powers, the SNSC Secretary Ali Shamkhani announced on Tuesday.


On November 1 senior nuclear negotiator Abbas Araqchi had noted that the Foreign Ministry would closely cooperate with the committee

Any action regarding the deal, officially known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), will be taken based on the decisions made by the committee, he said at the time.

Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Ali Khamenei ordered the formation of the committee on October 21.

On the recent arrests of a few journalists by the IRGC intelligence body, the security official said the arrests have been carried out for the good of the journalists as a way to protect them.
