TEHRAN - Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said on Wednesday that Iran’s “exemplary security” has paved the way for the country’s scientific and technological progress.
Iran’s present prominent scientific status among world states is one of the fruits of the 1979 Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Khamenei said, while addressing a group of highly-talented youth and university students in Tehran.Such a progress has been achieved despite the 1980-1988 Iraqi-imposed war on Iran, political pressures, and economic sanctions against the country over the past three decades, the Leader remarked.
Ayatollah Khamenei said international scientific centers, which determine indicators for scientific progress bear testimony to Iran’s development, which he said has been acquired by experts thanks to the country’s security.
Without security, there would be no research and academic progress, the Leader pointed out.
He also hailed the potential of the younger generation, saying this generation can reinforce the pillars of the country’s scientific independence.
“Although Westerners have made significant advancement in scientific fields and technology, one should not get intimidated [by their advancements],” Ayatollah Khamenei stated, adding that the potential of Iranian youth are way higher.
‘Progress tied to revolutionary ideology’
The Leader also stated that Iran’s progress, influence, grandeur, and spiritual dominance will increase in the region and beyond as long as the country’s revolutionary movement and ideology continue to exist.
“The future of country hinges upon ideals and revolutionary slogans promoted by the involvement of the majority of the highly talented youth,” he highlighted.
Leader warns against attempts to dishearten people
Elsewhere, the Leader warned against attempts by certain “individuals, and elements”, as well as media outlets who try to undermine the country’s scientific developments or dishearten people.
“The talented Iranians have a relatively higher IQ compared to global average; our country is self-sufficient in providing itself with committed, talented, and hard-working young people as the greatest wealth of the nation,” he said, adding however that the greatest malady looming around the prodigies is a general and misguided feeling that they are unique and peerless.
“This [selfish feeling] is a personal malady which you should attempt to overcome through improving jihadi mentality and working for God as your duty,” he said.
“The country’s major scientific advancements in the fields of nano, stem cells and nuclear issue are not an illusion, but rather realities which the whole world is aware of,” the Leader noted, urging officials to remain on the watch regarding moves by those who try to undervalue the country’s progress.
Disappointing the youth and denying the scientific and technological momentum in the country would be a betrayal of the country and of national honor, he pointed out.
Leader encourages experts not to leave the country
The Leader also recommended the country’s lead experts to stay in the country and serve their own people.
“Do not surrender yourself to the insatiable lust of the foreign communities who absorb national talents of other countries. The better option for you is to stay inside the country and participate in the architecture of the country, which seeks to construct and reshape the skeleton of the future of your home country,” Ayatollah Khamenei said.
The Leader also called for a well-planned strategy to use the potential of the knowledge-based companies to help realize the objectives of the resistance economy.
