TEHRAN – Iran’s Judiciary chief has said the U.S. and other Western countries are responsible for the recent surge of refugees to Europe, Mehr reported Monday.

Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli Larijani said that the crisis of Syrian and North African refugees and migrants was rooted in measures taken by Europeans and the U.S. and it “now afflicts themselves.”

“The crisis is the product of the West’s support for terrorism, and now they are stuck in a desperate situation by influx of thousands of migrants and refugees from lands where the U.S. and the West fostered terrorists,” he stated.

“We hope that the U.S. and Europe move toward concrete solutions to the crisis and abandon debate over how many refugees and migrants should be accepted by Western European countries,” he urged.
