TEHRAN – Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei says the United States and the Israeli regime have never stopped their hostility towards the Iranian nation.
Ayatollah Khamenei made the remarks in a Wednesday meeting with President Hassan Rouhani and his cabinet members on the occasion of the third day of the National Government Week.
“Since the beginning of the [1979] Revolution to this day, the hostility of the Zionists and the Americans has not waned; and this reality should never slip the minds of [Iranian] authorities,” the Leader said.
Concluding the nuclear negotiations was “one of the very important tasks” accomplished by the administration, the Leader said. However, he added, the probability of neglecting the goals of enemies in the nuclear issue is a source of concern.
“Of course, approaches of hostility and harming may change and renew; however, all ‘political, economic, and cultural’ officials must be vigilant not to play into the hands of the enemy under any circumstances, so that their decisions do not intentionally or unintentionally help implement the plots envisaged by the enemies,” the Leader pointed out.
The Leader also praised the performance of the government in reducing inflation rate and creating a relative calm in the business market.
“However, we are not satisfied with double-digit inflation rate and annual inflation should be reduced to below 10 percent,” Ayatollah Khamenei noted.
The Leader also cited reform in health sector, efforts to get the economy out of recession, making plans for scientific progress, and efforts to manage water consumption as other good steps by the government.
Ayatollah Khamenei also said officials should express their “revolutionary position” very clearly.
“Under any circumstances one should be very unequivocal in adopting revolutionary stance, and in the face of enemies one should express the position of the revolution and tenets of the great Imam (Khomeini) without fear and shame.”
Before the Leader’s remarks, Rouhani, First Vice President Es’haq Jahangiri and several ministers delivered a brief report on the performance of the administration during its two years in office.
