TEHRAN - World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Margaret Chan is slated to travel to Iran on Wednesday for a two-day visit.

The news was announced on Monday by Iranian Deputy Health Minister Mohsen Assadi Lari, IRNA reported.
Chan is paying the visit upon a formal invitation by Health Minister Hassan Qazizadeh Hashemi.
Iran is going to present the WHO chief with a report on its latest healthcare measures within the SDG, Lari said.
SDG (Sustainable Development Goals) is part of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) which is the world's time-bound and quantified targets for addressing extreme poverty in its many dimensions – income, poverty, hunger, disease, lack of adequate shelter, and exclusion - while promoting gender equality, education, and environmental sustainability.
Lari added that during her trip, Chan will assess Iran’s adherence to its political and technical obligations related to the SDG.
The Iranian experience will be used by the WHO in other countries, the official said.
