TEHRAN - The top officials of the International Atomic Energy Agency and Atomic Energy Organization of Iran met in Vienna on Sunday to discuss ways to resolve a number of remaining issues between Iran and the international body in order to facilitate a nuclear deal.

Yukiya Amano’s meeting Ali Akbar Salehi, a nuclear physicist, came as diplomats said on Sunday that Iran and the major powers are close to ink a historic deal over Iran’s nuclear program.

Amano met French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius as well, ISNA reported.

Salehi is the leader of the Iranian nuclear expert team in the current negotiations with the P5+1 and has so far held numerous meetings with U.S. Energy Secretary Earnest Moniz.
