TEHRAN – The Islamic Revolution Guard Corps has investigated the disruption to President Hassan Rouhani’s speech at the Imam Khomeini mausoleum on June 3 and found out that disruptors were not affiliated to any political group, an Interior Ministry official said on Monday.
Hosseinali Amiri, the deputy interior minister for security affairs, said a number of people have been arrested with respect to the issue and some others have been released on bail.
He also said the camera recordings inside the mausoleum have been put at the disposal of the IRGC and investigations into the issue are still underway.
Based on a decree by the Supreme National Security Council, the IRGC is in charge of security of the late Imam’s mausoleum.
Amiri also touched on the presence of women in stadiums to watch men’s sports, saying the Interior Ministry is not involved in making decisions regarding the controversy.
