Iran-China trade hits $11.7b in 4 months

TEHRAN – Trade of goods between Iran and China amounted to $11.731 billion in the first four months of 2015, a 30 percent fall year on year, according to China Customs Statistics Information Center.

Iran exported $5.74 billion of goods including crude oil) to China, while imported $5.99 billion of goods from the country.

China was the leading importer of Iranian non-oil goods in the previous Iranian calendar year, which ended on March 20, 2015, according to the Iran Customs Administration.   

Iran exported $9.159 billion of non-oil goods to China and imported $12.56 billion of non-oil goods from the country.   

China, Iran's largest crude oil buyer, imported 587,200 barrels of Iranian crude oil per day in the first four months of 2015, down 5 percent from the same period last year.

Back in March, the Iran-China Joint Chamber of Commerce Chairman Assadollah Asgaroladi, said that Tehran and Beijing seek to bring the level of their trade exchanges to $60 billion from the current $52 billion in a year or so.

Iran imported $6.344 billion of non-oil products and exported $7.861 billion of products in the first two months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21-May 21. 
Iran’s major exported products included propane, bitumen and polyethylene with the country’s key export destinations being China, Iraq, the United Arab Emirates, India and Afghanistan. 

The country’s main imported items were corn, rice, press cake, mining machinery and wheat with the main import origins being the UAE, China, South Korea, Turkey and India.
