TEHRAN - Abolqasem Rastgoo was a good-hearted teacher at a high school at Darehshoor Village in the southern province of Fars.
He had a bachelor’s degree in Persian literature and had been teaching for over 22 years. Last Wednesday, he was declared brain dead after going to a coma. Abolqasem had filled out an organ donor card before his death.
On Thursday, in Shahid Namazi Hospital in Shiraz, the capital of Fars Province, just two days before National Teachers’ Day in Iran, with his family’s consent, his kidneys were transplanted to two women of 29 and 28 years old, his liver was given to a woman of 42 and the tissues were given to some other patients suffering burns.
Giving new life to people in need was the last lesson Abolqasem gave his students. May his soul rest in peace!
