Neighboring countries account for half of Iran’s annual trade: official

TEHRAN- Fifty percent of Iran’s worth of trade was with the neighboring countries in the past Iranian calendar year, which ended on March 20, according to an official in Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Ebrahim Rahimpour, the Iranian deputy foreign minister for Asia, Pacific and Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) affairs, put the country’s trade at $140 billion in the previous calendar year, the IRNA news agency reported on Monday.

China, Iraq, the United Arab Emirates, India and Afghanistan were the first to fifth major trading partners of Iran in the past Iranian calendar year, according to Iran's Customs Administration.
