Eight foreign soldiers die in Afghan war

Eight U.S.-led foreign soldiers have lost their lives in Afghanistan as foreign troops continue to experience some of their deadliest days in the war-ravaged country.

NATO said on Sunday that four of the soldiers died of injuries sustained in non-battle related incidents. Four others were killed in fighting in southern Afghanistan.
All the deaths occurred on Saturday.
The U.S.-led military alliance did not reveal the nationalities of the soldiers.
At least 2,530 international troops -- most of them American, have been killed in Afghanistan since the invasion of the country in 2001.
The developments come as the security situation continues to deteriorate in Afghanistan with US-led troops and government forces killed by Taliban militants on a near-daily basis.
Tens of thousands of civilians have also lost their lives since the U.S.-led invasion of Afghanistan in 2001.
The security situation has been steadily worsening across Afghanistan over the past few years despite the presence of around 150,000 U.S.-led foreign troops in the country.
