Moscow optimistic about Iran-5+1 talks in Istanbul: report

TEHRAN – Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Viktorovich Lavrov has said Moscow is optimistic about future talks between Iran and the 5+1 group in Istanbul.
In early December, Iran and the major powers resumed talks in Geneva after a 14-month hiatus. After the talks, Supreme National Security Council Secretary Saeed Jalili, who represented Iran at the talks, said the 5+1 group (the U.S., Britain, France, China, Russia and Germany) has agreed that the next round of talks will focus on “common ground for cooperation.” The meeting is going to be held in Istanbul in late January.Lavrov expressed hope that the two sides would reach some agreements, which will include Iran’s nuclear program as well, the Fars news agency quoted Russian official saying in an interview with Russia TV channel Vest
