TEHRAN – National Prosecutor General Gholam-Hossein Mohseni Ejei said on Friday that Iran is ready to cooperate with Pakistan in the fight against terrorism and security crimes.

Mohseni Ejei made the remarks in a meeting with Pakistan’s Attorney General Maulvi Anwar-ul-Haq on the sidelines of a conference of prosecutor generals of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in China.
He also said the conference has provided a great opportunity for neighboring countries to discuss ways to increase their interactions.
Elsewhere in his remarks, he pointed to devastating floods in Pakistan and expressed sympathy for millions of Pakistanis who are now homeless. He also sympathized with those families whose loved ones perished in recent bomb explosions in the country.
Pakistan’s worst floods in 80 years have left 20 million people homeless and six million without food, medicine, or shelter.
The floods came as a shock to the Iranian government and people, Ejei said, adding the Supreme Leader in his recent remarks called on Iranian officials and people to provide aid to Pakistan and help alleviate their suffering.
Ayatollah Khamenei in an address on September 10 described the flood disaster in Pakistan as the “most urgent” issue of the Islamic world. The Leader said, “The nation and government of Iran, other Muslim nations and governments in every corner of the world, Islamic organizations particularly the Organization of the Islamic Conference, must rush with all their capacity to the help of the Pakistan nation and government.”
Anwar-ul-Haq, for his part, thanked the Iranian people and the Supreme Leader for assisting the flood-stricken Pakistanis.
He also said Pakistan is interested in expanding judicial cooperation with Iran and expressed hope Tehran and Islamabad can sign an extradition treaty in the near future
