SANANDAJ – Two key elements behind shooting at a police patrol car in Sanandaj were killed in a police operation, announced Ebrahim Kazeminejad, the deputy police chief of Kordestan province.

On Thursday, two gunmen opened fire on several policemen on patrol at a square in the city of Sanandaj in the western province of Kordestan, killing four policemen and a bystander.
Five other policemen and four civilians were injured in the attack.
“Two main elements behind the terrorist attack in Sanandaj were killed after they were chased by security forces,” Kazeminejad said on Friday.
Police is thoroughly investigating the incident, he added.
The police official did not identify the suspects and did not give any further details.
The terrorist attack in Sanandaj came two weeks after a bombing at a military parade in the northwestern city of Mahabad in the province of West Azarbaijan martyred 12 women and injured around 80 people.
On September 26, the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps announced that the main elements behind the bombing in the Kurdish-majority city of Mahabad were killed in an operation carried out by IRGC forces
