Impeachment bid lodged against agriculture minister over excessive imports

TEHRAN – Dissatisfied with excessive imports of food products a number of lawmakers have lodged an impeachment bid against Agricultural Jihad Minister Sadeq Khalilian, MP Mohammad Karami-Rad announced on Tuesday.

The impeachment plan, signed by 21 MPs, has been presented to the parliament’s presiding board which if accepted by the board the subject will be brought to the open session on Wednesday, Karami-Rad told the Mehr News Agency.
The writers of the impeachment bid have cited excessive import of agricultural products, Khalilian’s lack of skill to run the ministry, and disregard for insurance fund of the agricultural products as the major reasons for impeaching the minister.
If the parliament agrees with the proposal, Sadeq Khalilian will face impeachment after 10 days
