TEHRAN – The director of Iran’s customs administration stated that there is proof that import and export will not decline and will in fact grow rapidly this year.

ILNA news agency quoted Ardeshir Mohammadi as saying, “Import and export in the first two months of the current year (Iranian calendar starting March 21) had a burgeoning trend and our assessment is that our foreign trade will not be affected noticeably by the sanctions.”
During this period about $8.4 billion goods have been imported and $4.5 billion have been exported from the country which show boosts of 19 and 33 percent respectively, he said.
The Iranian official pointed out that according to forecasts imports will rise from $55.5 billion last Iranian calendar year to approximately $60 million this year.
Exports will go up from $25 billion to $30 billion he anticipated. Last year, around seven million tons of goods were transited via Iran, he said, predicting that the figure would increase to eight million tons
