TEHRAN – Iran’s “About Elly” will be an entry in the 2010 Wisconsin Film Festival, which runs from April 14 to 18 in Madison, the capital of the U.S. state of Wisconsin.

Asghar Farhadi’s international award winning film will go on screen on April 16 and 17, competing with several other movies in the fiction category.
“About Elly” has won several international awards among which are the Silver Bear for best director at the Berlinale 2009 and the Best Narrative Feature category at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2009.
Starring Shahab Hosseini, Golshifteh Farahani, Mani Haqiqi, Saber Abar and Merila Zarei, “About Elly” tells the story of middle class Iranians whose trip to the Caspian Sea turns into a disaster as they try to maintain their social customs.
Nearly 200 films -- ranging from American independent, world cinema, narrative, documentary, shorts, experimental and restored classics and locally made pictures from Wisconsin filmmakers -- are scheduled during the five-day event.
“Nobody Knows How Hard It Was” by Claudio Manoel from Brazil, “Collateral” by Michael Mann from the United States, “When the Dragon Swallowed the Sun” by Dirk Simon and “Children of Invention” by Tze Chun are among the top entries of the festival.
There will be a special screening of the 2004 film “Collateral,” starring Jamie Foxx and Tom Cruise. Manohla Dargis, co-chief film critic of The New York Times, will be at the screening and will talk about the film, giving the audience insights into the movie and the art of filmmaking.
