TEHRAN – The Iranian Foreign Ministry issued a statement on Monday condemning suicide terrorist attacks on Moscow subway.

“The Islamic Republic strongly condemns tragic bomb blasts in Moscow metro that claimed the lives of a number of innocent Russian people and injured several others,” Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said.
Mehmanparast said it is necessary that all countries, particularly regional states, take a firm and concerted action against such terrorist activities.
Two powerful blasts rocked Moscow subway stations on Monday morning. According to Russian Emergency Situations Ministry, the blast killed 39 and wounded 71 others.
The twin blasts were the second deadliest attack against the Moscow metro system which is one of the busiest in the world.
Message of condolence
In a message of condolence to his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov on Monday, Iran’s Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki also expressed his deep sympathy with the families who lost their loved ones in the bomb explosions and wished full recovery for the injured.
Deploring the deadly terrorist attacks on Moscow metro, Mottaki said it is necessary that regional countries reinforce their cooperation in the campaign against terrorism to extirpate such inhumane activities.
No group has claimed responsibility for the blasts at Lubyanka and Park Kultury stations on Monday, but some officials have suggested that militants from the country's restive North Caucasus region were involved.
Russians were observing a day of mourning for the dead.
Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said on Tuesday that catching the organizers of suicide bombings in Moscow is a “matter of honor” for investigators.
Putin said the security services should drag the bombing masterminds “from the sewer into the daylight”. -
