Tehran-Moscow ties not tactical: Iran envoy

TEHRAN – In a meeting with the head of Iran-Russia parliamentary friendship group in Moscow, the Iranian ambassador said relations between the two countries are not tactical.
Seyyed Reza Sajjadi said bilateral ties are based on realistic and geopolitical position, ISNA reported on Friday.The ambassador said senior Iranian officials have always stressed the importance of expanding ties between Iran and Russia at all levels.
Sajjadi pointed out that Iran and Russia share common interests and face similar threats in terms of geopolitical status. The Iranian diplomat also said given the current circumstances the two countries should try to expand ties in all areas.
On Iran’s nuclear program, Sajjadi said Iran has always been in compliance with international regulations and acted within the framework of the International Atomic Energy Agency.
The head of the Iran-Russia parliamentary friendship group also called for stronger relationship with Tehran.
