JOHANNESBURG Former South African President F.W. de KIerk Saturday married his long-time companion, Greek-born Elita Georgiades, in Onrus Rivier in the Cape, SABC public television reported. The wedding took place a week after De Klerk divorced his wife of more than 30 years, Marike, in the Cape Town high court last Friday, and despite De Klerk denying then that he had any wedding plans.
De Klerk and Georgiades, 46, wed in a small private ceremony and were due to leave for the United States, where De Klerk is to sign a contract for a book he is writing, television news reported. (AFP)
