Air pollution responsible for 70% of death in Tehran

TEHRAN -- 70% of Tehrani citizens die of air pollution, an official in Tehran Municipality said here on Monday.

Hadi Heidarzadeh referred to the figures of the health ministry and said that 70% of citizens in Tehran die of heart and respiratory diseases, which were caused directly or indirectly by air pollution.
Director of Tehran’s Department of Environment (DOE) Mohammad-Baqer Saduq also blamed air pollution for decreasing length of life of those living in Tehran metropolis and called for concerted efforts to conduct an official research in this regard
