Larijani tells Swedish envoy: EU needs to promote regional peace

TEHRAN– Iranian Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani said the European Union must adopt a fairer stance toward Palestine, calling on the EU to help enhance peace and stability in the region.
Larijani made the remarks on Sunday in a meeting with Magnus Wernstedt, the Swedish ambassador to Iran.He also underscored the important role of both countries’ parliaments in expanding relations, adding that Iran’s parliament will support any expansion in ties with Sweden.
Iran and Sweden have more potential to use to increase their trade exchanges and the two sides should work together to achieve this goal, he noted.
On Afghanistan, he said terrorism and narcotic drugs are the major headaches for this country and that Iran intends to help Afghanistan tackle these problems and restore its peace.
Wernstedt said Sweden is determined to promote its economic, trade and political ties with Iran.
He highlighted the importance of parliamentary relations and said exchange of parliamentary delegations between the two countries will help improve ties.
The ambassador also said Iran and Sweden share common concerns on regional developments
