Ex-FM Velayati meets Iraqi President Talabani

TEHRAN – Iran’s former foreign minister Ali Akbar Velayati met with Iraq’s President Jalal Talabani in Baghdad late Monday, Iraqi media reported.

Velayati who is currently the senior advisor to Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, congratulated the Iraqi president and nation over the recent provincial elections.
The two sides also discussed political developments in Iraq. Velayati also held talks with Iraqi Vice President Adel Abdul-Mahdi on Monday.
Velayati and Abdul-Mahdi discussed mutual ties in a framework that would benefit the two neighboring countries
