Geagea responsible for fate of Iranian diplomats: Nasrallah

TEHRAN -- Hezbollah Secretary General Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah on Thursday said Lebanese Forces group now headed by Samir Geagea is responsible for the fate of four Iranian diplomats who disappeared in Lebanon on July 4, 1982.

The group abducted four Iranian diplomats - Ahmad Motevaselian, Seyed Mohsen Mousavi, Taghi Rastegar Moghadam and Kazem Akhavan - in 1982 during the Israeli invasion of Beirut.
The Lebanese Forces group is the only source that can confirm whether the Iranian diplomats have been killed by the group or handed over to Israel, Nasrallah pointed out.
If the diplomats have been killed then where has the group buried their bodies? He asked. And if they have been handed over to the Zionist regime the Lebanese Forces group must produce hard evidence so that it can be used to obtain information about them in future talks with Israel, he stated.
Nasrallah insisted that Hezbollah is not seeking political advantage out of the issue and is just trying to resolve this “humanitarian and ethical problem”.
“The four Iranian diplomats have families, fathers, mothers, relatives and friends who have suffered for years and now a clear answer (from Lebanese Forces group) can help us,” he added.
Israel claims that the diplomats were killed shortly after their abduction by the Lebanese Forces group and provided information about possible locations where the diplomats may have been buried, he added.
However, there is intelligence that indicates the Iranians may be kept in Israel’s prisons and the detainees that Israel had previously claimed were dead were later found to be alive, he noted.
