Mashhad to Become a Thriving Tourism Center

MASHHAD, Khorasan Province Head of the Tourism Organization Mohammad Moezzeddin said that the city of Mashhad, in the northeastern Province of Khorasan, will be turned into a thriving tourism site. Speaking at the closing session of the Second Tourism Exhibition of Khorasan, he said that many world Shia Muslims would like to visit Mashhad to pay pilgrimage to the holy shrine of Imam Reza (AS), the 8th Imam of the Household of Prophet Mohammad (S). He said some 12 million pilgrims visit Mashhad annually, of whom about one million are foreign tourists.

Meanwhile, head of Khorasan Tourism Department Jalil Razavi said that tourism departments of eight provinces participated in the week-long exhibition which concluded work Sunday night. (IRNA)
