Part 3 Therefore, at this stage, the individual with his capabilities and a capacity for proactive functionality will develop affinity with respect to the system, and will accordingly find a status therein. At this juncture, his capabilities will flow into the social mainstream and will assume society-wide dimensions, since he is partaking in a whole and likewise, the whole partakes in him.
In other words, his will can act as the catalyst of the will of others, to which he resorts. All the same, the impacts of distinct individuals, are in fact related and form an integral whole in their diversity. This dual wholeness and diversity is derived from the wholeness and diversity inherent in the society. Therefore, the person we have in mind has both an individual faith and also social faith.
Here individual faith refers to the affinity and spiritual relation that the individual establishes with God. In this relationship he is solely responsible and the society does not assume any role. This stage precedes the individual's entrance into the society. Here, it bears mention that this precedence does not assume a chronological character, since the individual engages in social activities simultaneously; yet individual faith does not denote social relationships; instead it refers to the spiritual devotion and affinity of the individual.
However, this devotion will incur spatial expansion, for it will manifest itself first in the character and sensitivities, and then in the social act. Commensurate with that devotion, social impacts take place but essentially speaking, that devotion will remain individual in its scope and society will in no way be responsible towards it. On the other hand we have social faith, which in fact constitutes a system of faith, and in which the whole society partakes.
Here we do not mean that each individual is responsible for a certain act. In fact everyone has a certain share in the whole, though individual impacts very in proportion. And when the individual's capabilities flow in to the mainstream of the society, he then becomes a part of the society and the society will share his deeds. should his capabilities be eliminated, then the whole society will be affected.
Likewise, the actions of others will impact his actions. It is by meshing with social strands that the individual's actions assume significance. Here the society is not construed as the cause of his action but has a certain share in it. Hence and with regard to these actions, faith will assume social proportions and can be directed towards spiritual or secular ends.
