Iran to participate in Asian Beach Games

TEHRAN -- Iran will participate in the first edition of the Asian Beach Games to be held in Bali, Indonesia, from October 18 to 26.
Announcing this, Iran’s Olympic Committee’s Secretary General Ali Kafashian said, “Iran will take part in the First Asian Beach Games with about 100 athletes. We are going to participate in the tournament in nine events, namely soccer, volleyball, handball, sepaktawkra, jet skiing, bodybuilding, sailing, marathon swimming, and triathlon.”A number of 45,000 athletes from 45 countries and regions, including China, Iran, South Korea, Japan, and Jordan, are expected to compete in 17 sports.
The Asian Beach Games is a multi-sport event held every two years.
The next Asian Games is to be held in 2010 in Oman, then in 2012 in China, in 2014 in the Philippines, and in 2016 in Thailand.
