Minister opens gas refinery

TEHRAN -- Masjed Soleiman gas refinery will be officially opened today.

In the 100th year anniversary of oil drilling in Iran and the Middle East, the petroleum minister in addition to commemorating this important event will officially inaugurate some development plans and industrial projects during his visit to Masjed Soleiman(the first oil city in the Middle East), PIN reported.
“This refinery is capable of producing 1 million cubic meters gas and 1000 barrels of gas condensates daily,” said Masjed Soleiman refinery’s manager.
“The Masjed Soleiman gas refinery which is one the most modern refineries of its kind in the whole world was constructed with $256 million budget in 40 months,” Nuroddin Razaghi explained.
“Replacing sour, nonstandard and unsafe gas with refined and standard natural gas, preventing air pollution, increasing public health and supplying the suburban industries with gas are some of the major aims of this project,” he added.
The first modern oil wells of the Middle East were discovered and drilled in Masjed Soleiman and the first oil drilling in the Middle East has been made in the region of Naftoon in the center of this city.
