Iran, SaudiArabia can be pioneers in unity among Islamic states

Riyadh (IRNA) -- Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz, the governor of Riyadh, said on Sunday that Iran and the Saudi Arabia can be pioneers in solidarity and unity among Islamic countries. Abdulaziz made the remark in a meeting with Iran's Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Mohammad Hosseini, adding that the enemies of Islam pursue the policy of sowing discord among Muslim nations. Pointing to the fact that Iran and Saudi Arabia enjoy strategic relations, he noted that cultural, historical and religious affinities between the two nations can play an effective role in boosting bilateral cooperation.

The Saudi official assessed ties between the two countries as satisfactory, saying that bilateral relations should secure interests of the Islamic world. Tehran and Riyadh enjoy potential to resolve Middle East problems, he added. Hosseini, for his part, referred to the latest developments in both countries, saying that given the enemies attempt to sow discord among Muslim states, Iran and Saudi Arabia should expand mutual ties. He added that the two friendly countries are able to bring peace, security and stability to the region without the intervention of foreign forces.
The two sides also explored ways for expansion of cooperation in economic sector.
