Tehran’s Book City to hold conference “In Praise of Attar”

TEHRAN -- Tehran’s Book City is to hold a conference with the theme “In Praise of Attar, Attar’s Works revised by Shafiei Kadkani” on April 8.

“Book City is to begin its New Year’s activities with a conference in which the recent works of scholar Mohammadreza Shafiei Kadkani on the texts of the Persian poet Attar will be reviewed,” Book City’s cultural official Ali Asghar Mohammadkhani told Mehr News Agency.
He added, “Several researchers and experts will be participating and making speeches during the event. Discussions will be held on Shafiei Kadkani’s revisions of the ancient texts of Attar’s Mantiq at-Tayr (The Conference of the Birds), Mosibat-nameh (The Book of Affliction), Elahi-nameh (The Book of God) and the Mokhtar-nameh.”
Mohammadkhani also mentioned that Book City has held 45 book review sessions on Tuesdays in the fields of literature and philosophy during this Iranian year, and said that they had been much appreciated by critics, scholars and literary figures.
“We also held a series of meetings to discuss the works of Molana Rumi and Ferdowsi, and these will continue into the next season. Book City has hosted over 20 workshops on literature in general, novels, short stories, editing, films and theater, attracting over 500 participants over the past year,” he concluded.
