TEHRAN – Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khameneie has called on the Islamic countries to maintain unity in the face of the Western powers’ threats against the Islamic world.

""The language of superpowers is a language of threats and intimidation. If Islamic countries preserve unity, this language of intimidation will have no effect,"" Ayatollah Khameneie told Senegalese President Abdoulaye Wade in a meeting on Wednesday night.
The Supreme Leader stated that U.S. military attacks against Iraq and Afghanistan have incited hatred against the U.S. government. “Today they have realized that military victory is not the real victory and the U.S. troops have become truly desperate in the region,” he asserted.
""Some Islamic countries think that if the United States does not agree they cannot be successful, this idea is wrong. If nations decide without the approval of superpowers they can do great work,"" Ayatollah Khameneie observed.
The Islamic Republic has made great achievements without the help of major powers and is prepared to share its knowledge and experiences with the Islamic countries, he added.
The Supreme Leader welcomed the upcoming meeting of Organization of the Islamic Conference due to be held in Senegal.
Referring to Israel’s crimes against the Gaza residents, Ayatollah Khamenei said the OIC is duty-bound to defend the rights of Palestinians.
The OIC has the potential to develop into a powerful and influential organization in the world, he stated.
The Supreme Leader also called for closer cooperation between Iran and Senegal.
Wade, for his part, expressed appreciation for Iran’s support for the upcoming OIC meeting, saying, “This cooperation shows that the two nations of Iran and Senegal are close to each other and we always regard Iran as our example.”
The president also urged the implementation of joint economic projects, especially in auto manufacturing and building refineries and power plants
