TEHRAN -- Building trust should be “mutual” and the West should try to win Iran’s trust, senior presidential advisor Mojtaba Samareh-Hashemi said on Friday.

In a meeting with Swiss Deputy Foreign Minister Michael Ambuhl on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Samareh-Hashemi stated that the Iranian nation distrusts the West’s behavior towards its peaceful nuclear activities.
UN Security Council’s previous resolutions against the Islamic Republic were based on wrong information, he asserted.
The UN Security Council has imposed two rounds of sanctions on Iran as it has refused to suspend its uranium enrichment program.
Tehran has called the Security Council’s decisions “illegal” and “unjustified”.
As a signatory to the NPT Iran has legitimate right to enrich uranium for civilian uses.
Moderate states should prevent the hard-line countries from damaging the Security Council’s reputation, he said.
“We welcome any proposal or initiative that would recognize the Islamic Republic’s rights,” he noted.
Ambuhl said that Switzerland is prepared to play a constructive role in resolving Iran’s nuclear standoff with the U.S. and some of its allies in Europe
