Iran’s inflation rate hit 17.2 % for fiscal year

TEHRAN -– Inflation rate surged to 17.2 percent in Iran in the fiscal year ending to Nov. 22, 2007, the Central Bank of Iran (CBI) reported here on Friday.
Goods and services consumer price index in urban areas showed a 2.8 percent increase within Azar month of Iranian calendar (Nov. 22-Dec. 21) compared to its previous month and a 19.6 percent hike in comparison with its corresponding period in the preceding year.The CBI Economic Statistics Department’s report shows inflation rate rose to 12.8 percent in Farvardin month of Iranian calendar (Mar. 21-Apr. 20). The figure rose month by month to 13.6 percent, 14.2 percent, 14.8 percent, 15.4 percent, 15.4 percent, 16.2 percent, and 16.8 percent by Nov. 22, 2007
