China to finance world highest dam in Iran

TEHRAN – The deputy energy minister for water affairs announced here on Friday that Chinese investors will help Iran construct Bakhtiari Dam, the world’s highest concrete dam.

Rassul Zargar added the project needs 1.2 billion euros and is implemented on Bakhtiari River in southern Khuzestan Province, a main tributary of the Dez River.
According to him, the Turkish investors will also inject money into Khersan Dam project that demands a 300 million euro investment.
Bakhtiari and Khersan power plants are predicted to generate 1,500 and 300MW of electricity, respectively
