Convergence in OPEC among Nozari goals

TEHRAN (PIN) – Iran’s Acting Oil Minister Gholamhossein Nozari pointed to convergence in the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) as one of his main objectives during his portfolio.

He made the statement on the sidelines of his visit to Pars Special Economic Energy Zone (PSEEZ) in Assaluyeh, southern Iran, Monday.
The caretaker vowed to promote international ties, invite international contractors to implement projects of the oil industry, support domestic contractors, and indigenize the industry if he was elected as the oil minister.
“After the president (Mahmud Ahmadinejad) introduces me (to the lawmakers) as the future oil minister, I will follow up and step up my efforts to speed up the development of phases of South Pars field particularly the shared fields,” Nozari added.
He also said the increase in output and capacity would be among the main plans during his tenure in the Petroleum Ministry.
“In addition to development plans of South Pars field, we will put offshore production top on the agenda,” said the acting oil minister.
Ahmadinejad would propose Nozari for vacant oil portfolio to the Majlis (parliament), the vice president for legal and parliamentary affairs said here Sunday.
Hojjatoleslam Seyyed Ahmad Mussavi added the Acting Oil Minister Nozari would be introduced to the MPs three months after his career.
Nozari replaced Seyyed Kazem Vaziri-Hamaneh on Aug. 12, 2007.
