TEHRAN -- Secretary general of the Enlightened Muslim Women Association said here on Monday that the association’s first general assembly will be held in November, ISNA reported.

Fateme Rakeii noted that the main goal of establishing such a society is to promote research and creative thinking activities as well as giving cultural, educational, and social training to Iranian women which of course cultural activities are of top priority.
The former lawmaker said, unfortunately, some views at the two ends of the extreme don’t allow the “Iranian and Islamic identity of the learned Iranian women to blossom up.”
She said when an injustice happens against women in the society all women remain silent and “allow hardliners or feminists to defend their rights.”
The association plans to resolve women’s problems with a help from women experts and researchers. She also said those men who have some efforts for restoring women’s rights are welcome to help the center in achieving its goals.
The reformist activist added defending women’s right is not an issue unique to a particular political faction or group.
